Jewelry is a new venture for me - one that I will be pursuing with passion in the coming years in my new studio. PMC (Precious Metal Clay), fused glass (particularly dichroic) and polymer clay hold endless possibilities. Here are my first few trial runs:

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) or Art Clay are metal powder (in this case, silver), suspended in a binder. When fired in a kiln, the binder is burned off, leaving silver, sculptured jewelry.
It has revolutionized jewelry making. Now jewelry can easily be miniature sculpture. Since I am basically a sculptor, this is for me! |

Fused glass opens many more possibilities, both alone and in combination with PMC or Art Clay. It enables me to create an infinite variety of small sculptures. I find that precious metals and art glass do not need to be standard shapes in standard settings. |

Sea glass wrapped in wire is not as much a sculptural medium, but holds other interesting possibilities - especially when I find the well worn glass on the beach and wonder at its long journey to me. |
